Work Ethic!
Jan 13, 2024"Except those who have faith and do good works...." - (Qur'an 103:3)
A good work ethic is a distinguishing characteristic of someone committed to their purpose in life. It's not simply about working hard; it's about the reputation a person wants to have in the world associated with their name. We all know people who, when they set out to do something, "do it right." They are thorough, have attention to detail, and underpromise and over-deliver. They would rather not do a task than do a half-assed job because it would not represent them well to the world.
On the contrary, we all know people who don't put their best foot forward, don't show up, or cut corners, and their default response is that "at least I did something." Don't get me wrong, I, too, favor doing something versus doing nothing, but I'd prefer doing it right over just doing anything.
A person's reputation is the foundation of their "legacy"! It's what you leave behind as a witness to your life's work. It's what "they" will say about you when you're gone. It's what your children will remember you by and build their reputations upon. It takes consistency to build a reputation for good work, not just something that happens periodically. Muhammad (saw), the prophet of Islam, said, "A small thing done consistently is better than a big thing done now and then."
Everyone can appreciate a "closer"! Someone who takes on a task and sees it through to the end. They're known for getting the job done. At the first sign of trouble, they don't abandon ship or look for a thousand excuses; when they take on a task, they "own it"! This person earns your trust and respect!
“Your ability to discipline yourself to set clear goals and then to work toward them every day will do more to guarantee your success than any other single factor.” ~ Brian Tracy
